I searched a couple of places and couldn't find any advertisements or any information, but I believe I have seen them in the recent past.

Does anyone know where I may purchase (and get information on) a USAF Commemorative 1911 pistol?

Thanks!

Alex

None of those commemoratives are worth what they want for them. Some of 'em aren't even real firearms. Try the same guys that have all the other junker commemoratives.

Actually, the Commemorative pistols do really function. It is just that for the most part, you wouldn't want to fire them. Go to the American Historical Foundation website. I own a USAF .45 M1911A1. I'll post a picture of it just a little later on. If you don't mind having something that hangs on a wall, then go for it. Don't get it for resale purposes but for sentimental reasons.

I understand the issue of not-worth-the-money.

What I really would like is to find a 1911 pistol that is somehow related to the USAF, as I want to give it as a present to my older son who is a captain in the AF. He had mentioned a commemorative series of which only 1,947 were made, but I am pretty sure he would rather have one that could be shot, and shot well, albeit not frequently for keeps sake.

Have you seen this Ted Yost custom to honor a recent Air Force Academy graduate?

No, I had not. I am looking at his website now, and more than likely I should be able to find something.

Thanks for the tip!

He should be able to engrave pretty much anything as long as you have a black and white copy of what is to be engraved. Ted is an excellent guy and a gunsmith extraordinaire; I dont think there is anything that he cant do. He will take good care of you and will turn your ideas into blue steel artistry.
