Where can I get holsters and what model to fit my S&W 1911 with a rail. Or did I just make a major screw up buying this thing?

Thanks -bevr

Naw Bevr, you didn't screw up. Rails are getting very common on 1911s so most holster makers are adapting to the shift. Pick a holster you like and if you can't find it listed for a 1911 with a rail call the maker. They likely have them and it hasn't made the updated list, or will have them soon. When rails first came out on guns holsters for them were hard to get. Now the proliferation of railed pistols and affordable high quality lights for them have made holsters to hold such a market neccesity.

cool

I have been going nuts searching the web. It definitely has not made the updated lists for bianchi, Galco etc. I am partial to bianchi. None of my usual vendors seem to have anything either.

I have found some that will hold a Kimber desert warrior, SIG gsr, etc. I suppose if it fits one it should fit the other?

I guess I'll give bianchi a call and see what they have.

I looked at the milt sparks site

I saw no mention of anything having to do with a holster fitting a rail. If you could point out what model to look for I would be grateful.

Bevr,

I just examined my Bianchi Accumold belt holster, part number 17717. The packaging says "FITS Size 14, Large Automatic 5" Browning Hipower, Colt Government, Llama IXA, Para Ordnance P12 P13 P14 P16, Springfield 1911-A. I put my SA GI 1911 in it and it feels like there is plenty of room between the dust cover and holster to fit a 1911 with rail dustcover. If your local dealer stocks Bianchi I'm sure he/she will be glad to let you try your pistol for fit. I know you like Bianchi, so hopefully this helps.

well i did not find a bianchi

but what I did find was a springfield xd gear 1911 that has an external rail to hold the flashlight. Pretty cool really. Only 16 bucks too. The light springer makes looks like a deal too at only $99. Let you know how it goes.

I have emailed most of the major holster manufactures I am interested in and will see what I hear back. Thanks for the heads up on the accumold. Those are nice. I will wait to hear form them and save a few more duckettes up. The xd plastic will keep me from sticking in my pants for now.

Thanks for the help!
