I'm not buying for a while, but I want my first semi auto to be a .45 ACP 1911.Of course the 1911 is probably the most copied semi auto ever.Whats a good company/model that can Accept hi capacity magazines. At first I was looking towards a para ord p14,but the cost of their mags is ridiculous.I am willing to spend some money, however I wanna have some leftover for ammo, mags, ect. So no STIs or Wilsons.

In the world of double-stack 1911 mags, Para-style mags are cheap. An STI 2011 mag starts at $60 and by the time they're competition ready most people have around $100 into 1 mag and up to $125/mag that is purchased as 'tuned'.

So long as the Democrats do not enact a 'Standard capacity ban' you'll be all right.

If they do... you're out of luck.

I ALWAYS recomend buying the mags first.
The guns last longer, increase in price less, and usually don't come with 12 mags.

Noob cking in.

I like Para's. The 1st generation had some probs, but most weapons need to work out the "kinks". :neener:

I now own Para LDA's. I like the smooth double action trigger (No cocking the hammer, these models are double action only. Now these guns have "bobbed" hammers, to prevent someone from trying to cock - thus break - the gun).

Here some pics... sorry camera phone :( .

P.S. I had problem with Pro-Mag Para mags. :barf:

Good luck with shopping!

Brownell's is showing the Mec-Gar Para-Ord. P-14 .45 Blue 13 Rnd. at around 27 bucks.

I believe magazines are one of the products discounted if you send them a C&R.

I have STI: I feel your pain. Mine haven't needed any tuning but finding them under 60.00 has proven to be an elusive goal.

Springfield's GI Hi-Cap 1911 is a great gun for a great price. I bought one a couple of months ago for $479 and it's turned out to be an awesome, stone reliable gun. I bought three MecGar nickel plated 13 round mags for it and with 14 rounds on board, this 1911 is just awesome! Does need more visible sights, but other than that, I'm a very happy camper with the gun...
