1911's & S&W Revolvers

Then too, I really don't spare any of my guns an occasional range trip with the exception of a few rifle that are just a little too punishing for me to really enjoy shooting.
Yes a 416 Remington and a 375H&H fall into its not as much fun as it use to be for me.

Heck, don't feel to old. I'm not even 30 and I've settled on Smith revolvers, 1911's and CZ 75's for %100 of my pistols.

I could learn to love a Ruger revolver, I just don't own any currently.

Among the Colt 1911 guns I am currently looking for a nice 9mm exhibit to compliment my 38 Super. All in all I likely have about a dozen 1911 Colt Series 70 Government guns, I just seem to gravitate to the things. :) Also a real weakness for the Gold Cup guns.

I know that feeling! Currently have a half dozen or so Colt 1911s and always lookng for more. Would like to add a Gold Cup (had one years ago and it shot like a dream with the right ammo), and a CCO to keep my Commanders and Officer's Model ACP company.

Lol. I think it's a valid disease. Mine's stocked the same way. although I do have a pair or ruger revolvers and a dan wesson revolver keeping them company. Something about all steel firearms that's just - different - than a safe full of part tupperware.

But I think there's room in there for a few more hipowers too.

Indeed, there's always room for more 1911s and Hi-Powers in my safes!

I carried a Smith revolver during my 30 year LEO career. It wasn't until some time after I retired that I bought my first 1911. Fell in love with them. Bought several and will buy more in the future. Almost all my handgun range time is spent shooting the 1911s. What a joy. However there are parts of the city I won't go into without my Smith revolver on my belt and a couple of speed loaders in my pocket.

I completely agree...

I agree that S&W revolvers are outstanding guns but only own an '82 model 686 and a 67-1. I've shot other revolvers from Pythons on down (cost wise), but nothing I've handled is a match for my particular 686 in terms of action and overall feel. I had a Kimber 1911 that I thought I enjoyed shooting until I bought a CZ 97 B, then the Kimber was gone within a few months. I admire the 1911 for what it is, but I love the 97 B much more for shooting. CZs have driven all my other centerfire semi-autos to the auction block except for the Browning Hi Power, which I also love.

I've never been able to find an interest in a polymer semi-auto. I recently sold the only one I've ever owned (HK P2000).

Yes I have double action revolvers and 1911 series pistols but they seldom see the light of day residing in secured storage (AKA-Gun Safe).

I've been going the opposite direction.. The plastics been staying in the safe.

I have a wide variety of handguns, including Glocks, M1911s, and J, K, and N frame Smiths.

The gun I carry every day is a Citadel 3.5cs 3 1/2" M1911. Before that I carried a Smith 36-"no dash" in a pocket holster.

I've carried Glocks (19 and 22), Smith revolvers (36 and 65), a Browning Hi Power, and various M1911s, pretty much interchangeably.

My first handgun was a Series 70 Colt. Since then, I've never been without at least one M1911. I prefer .45acp, and there really isn't another .45acp platform which I find either comfortable to shoot or appropriate for me for concealed carry.

My normal carry gun is a Glock. But my safe is full of S&W and a few Colts and Brownings as well as an odd Webely and Dan Wesson.

"...the tactical game..." There's nothing 'tactical' about 'em. Until you have to lug the thing around hanging off your pants for 12 hours or more. 'Tactical' is just a marketing term anyway. Not that it's relevant. The only thing that matters is how well the thing fits your hand. What it's made of doesn't matter.

As time goes by and the older I get it seems the only interest in handguns I have anymore is 1911's and Smith revolvers.

Add to these fine examples of type single-action wheelguns and you have my entire sympathy. I've never cottoned to the plastic pistol... I had wanted a 1911 since I was 10 years old in 1965.

Today I am proud to own four 1911-pattern pistols, five Ruger single-action whirlenpoppers and four Smith & Wesson revolvers. The latest Smith to arrive in my collection I've just posted about in the Revolvers subforum; it's a Model 696.

Auto Ordnance 1911A1 and Smith model 27-2 the two most American cartridges there are . One the .45 ACP which is the ultimate military cartridge ( sorry m9 lovers) and the .357 Magnum the ultimate police cartridge ( again apologies to the 40 Cal crowd.)

For years I have wanted a 1911 and a 4" target 38 but just didn't have the funds. After a car wreck in 7-15 I got a small settlement a year later and was able to get a few things off my want list. I picked up a Springfield Range Officer Champion in 9mm, and a Smith 67 no dash and got a great deal on both. The RO was NIB, and the Smith had 200 rounds through it. That satisfied that need.

My daughter will get the RO later on so I had to get me one. Her birthday is 1-19-11 :) so she had to have one. I found a RO 5" 9mm NIB for a great price and got it for me, then realized I'm 45, so I had to get a 45, and found a NIB Chiappa 1911-45 dirt cheap and got it.

I have a 6" GP-100 357 I love, and daily carry a Glock 17 with a TLR-1 HL, so I think that just about covers the main needs.

I started off with a couple polymer guns because revolvers just seemed so old fashioned. Decided I needed a 1911 since they are an American classic. I was given a pre model 10, then figured I might as well have a 357 too. Since then I've bought 3 more S&W 38 specials, 2 more 357's and a model 617 for plinking with 22 long rifle. I don't even have any more polymer guns on my wish list but definitely plan on adding more revolvers and probably a smaller 1911

I keep a NIB Smith and NIB 1911 around just in case I need a spare.

I like the way you think! Those are some mighty nice "spares" to have around!

I prefer revolvers and steel. For revolvers I have S&W, Colt, Ruger, and several others. My old Rossi 720's, for instance, are a lot of fun. My favorites are my Ruger SA revolvers.

For semiautomatics I like 1911's a lot, but also like other classics such as BHP, CZ75, Makarov, etc. I am more of a revolver guy, though.

I have two polymer carry pistols and a polymer carry revolver. They are okay. I would rather shoot steel handguns, but polymer or aluminum are very convenient to carry. My only other polymer is an EAA Witness in 45acp. I would rather have had steel, but it was too good a deal to pass up.

Life is short. I figure I should try to enjoy them all.
