Another from the estate of a friend. A Colt .25 acp pistol, made in 1920 (by it's serial #) In good condition. Would be excellent but for some rust spots. Internally like new. Feeds, functions and fires properly. My only question is that it has a box. Whether it is or was a Colt box I have no idea, but here's a photo to look at, any ideas or memories of such boxes?

I do collect this sort of pistol, but do not claim to be an expert. I prefer used type arms and non-expensive items. (Non-expensive "old and desired" items may be a contradiction in terms...)

I find no mention in any of my references to such a box as in your photos. It looks a good job, functional for the purpose and nicer than a plastic molding, but it may not automatically add value to the arm. Which is not to say it is isn't a custom box ordered by the 'Proud and Fancy Company' for such purpose.

The grips are of wood, making it a later production arm.

I bought a similar arm a couple years ago with earlier gutta percha grips, pre recent inflation, without a box, but a more or less decent finish with a rust spot or two. As I recall, it was around $300 (plus or minus $25) and that is the product of my somewhat flimsy memory. All the reference books to which I have access are dated or are reasonably light on information of this model of arm.

Just now occurring: Do you want a value for sale or insurance purposes?
