I just bought an M44 the other day. I have been doing a little research on it and it's a very interesting gun with a neat history. After further inspection of the gun, almost all of the serial numbers match. The only one that is different is the bolt. Everthing else is the same, even the stock. I didn't realize it at first, but it is missing the cleaning rod....bummer. But these guns seem to be a dime a dozen, so picking up parts won't be a problem. It has seen some use as the stock shows some wear. But the bolt slides quite nicely and the gun is in pretty good condition. I can't wait to get it cleaned up and put some rounds through it!!!

I found a nice website for any other M44 enthusiasts out there.

you have just opened a can of worms that is Mosin Nagant.

do a search and humble youself.

as a side note. get that rifle checked for headspace since its got a miss matched bolt

Actually, the Hungarian ones aren't a dime a dozen. They were probably used in the 1950s war against Russia.
