Yeah yeah buzz...lets see how the Baer runs at the next class without that stupid FLGR crap I've been trying out and scrapped at lunch the last day. I finished that last drill faster than you and the Nighthawk owner if I remember correctly.
---------------------
So the third day was exilerating...secondary weapons, retention and close quarters, threats behind you, three dimensional moving target with no shoot backstop.
I'm rethinking my secondary weapon (keltec p3at) because it's so small, just about impossible to reload, and hard to aim quickly. If only the springfield that I have would actually run
.
Turn around drills were fun, I'll have to try that in competition, but it does seem to be a very fast way to do it, without the problems of going to far or not enough with doing an about face.
Thoughts on retention: I see how easy it would be to lose track of how many rounds you've fired when you're adreneline is pumping. The first drill I shot 8 shots of my 10 rounds, hadn't topped off beforehand, and forgot to speed load until Louis yelled to speed load. Second time I was thinking reload, apparently only fired 4 shots, but it felt like the same number as before, one of them being after I took my support hand off the gun and started reaching for the reload and shot right overtop the target. I didn't know I did it like that and was confused when Louis and the rest of the class told me I did that.
Lastly, the 3d drill was a blast. It really got you thinking about where the bullet will go after you hit the guy, a very important aspect when being a good citizen in a bad situation.
Oh, and I walked away from the course with 40 lbs of once used brass...much thanks to those that helped bag it up.
