Hi folks!
heres my two dependables.

The Taurus PT111SSP Millenium Pro, 9MM, Is simpily the best all around pistol for carry, that Ive found.
Got it last November, New. its digeted bout 3,000 rds flawlessly.. NO failures of any kind. Accurate as I can shoot. Light weight, thin, most concealable, SAFE, easy functioning and cleaning dis/assembaly.

it eats anything you feed it..
Best preforming Defence ammo Ive tested thu it are Winchester SilverTip Hollow Points. Both the 147 and 115 Gr loads preform flawless, and absolute optimum expansion/pennetration.. I like the 115s alot, I keep 1 clip full, for in home, and other enviroments that possible over pennetration is not desirable..
(Im currently testing a few hundred Aguila IQ 65 Gr loads, with intentions as a home defence load)
The 115 STHPs are an impressive bullet. I could ramble on for along time about all the testes we did with this load and this pistol. They hit hard and expand fast, they DO pennetrate. Their maximum expansion (jacket petals at max spread) Is uniform at 1.10 inch! resting expansion (mushroomed bullet) diameter was almot perfectly uniform at .75 inch, this is several hundred rounds of preformance.. virtually no fragmentation, with the exception being a partial jacket petal. Ive collected mabey 4 rds that the lead seperated from the jacket, however the lead, and jackets of all of these, were fully expanded, and intact..

the 147Gr STHP are equally as impressive in preformance, and of course, they push a bit deeper!
They are also the most accurate defence load Ive fired, and produce the least muzzle flash, aswell as are verry controlable and smooth. the 147 is my primary ammo for the PT111.

The CCI Blazer 115Gr FMJ (aluminmum case) is my favor target load. accurate, dependable.... and Extremely clean firing! even in such a short barrel.

this is the CharterArms, Police Backup .38 Special, 6 shot. wieghs about a pound.. Once I figured out how to carry a wheelgun, I appreciated this!
Its also quite concealable, I like it at 10 or 2 o'clock, IWB.

Ive put about 1,200 rds thru this. and now I can hit things!:what:
actually Ive improved Alot with this pistol.. as its the first serious work wheelgun Ive had, it was a big change from living amongst Autos... point shooting, draw, grip, aiming, double taps..... everything, was like a new ball game to me..

the finish is very nice! quite appealing, nice wood grips.. Lockup is SOLID, everything about this gun is top notch in preformance.

Recoil is a bit punchy, muzzle flip is present... and definetly loud.
Federal 125 Gr LeadTip JHP +P HiShok, are the smoothest +P load in her, accurate, powerful.
Im impressed with this gun.
I will have a more detailed account later after lots more shooting.

Thanks for reading!

+1 on Taurus Millenium Pros

+1 on the Taurus.

I have a PT145 and my wife the PT111 in stainless, both PRO models. And I have to agree, these are fine guns. I know a lot of people poo-poo Taurus because they are not overpriced and early models of these guns had some issues. But the value is exemplary on these models and ours have been hiccup free for about over 2000 rounds collectively. They are both so concealable you could put them in your pocket and most would not notice. I have an HBE leatherworks NY Pro holster in Eric Larson's build queue right now.

Once it arrives, I'll have to share some images and boast about Eric's talents with leather.

I just love em and feel 100% confident that if I ever had to reach for it in the night, it would go BOOM without question.

Leave the IQ ammo alone. Its really not worth a dam. I bought some while back Muzzel Flash was horrible. Only had one pistol that would feed the stuff and bullet to lite and of course Frags . Really in same class as Glasser and others Not worth the money and certinly not worth betting you life and family on.

Does the Charterarms manual indicate +P is OK for that pisol? I had a Chaterarms in the '70s that broke because of over pressure from +P.:banghead:

I also have a Mil-Pro in 9mm that I carry occassionally and have never had a problem with it in almost 1500 rounds. There's no doubt in my mind it's dependable. However, I prefer carrying my Sig P220. I just figure if I'm ever in a fight I want the BG to see a BIG gun pointing at him..so he'll know what kind of fight he's in for....:)

Thanks for the info, i have often wondered about the tarus pt111 as a carry gun for my wifeshe dosen't like the backstrap safety on the xd, and really dosen't carry enough to have a kahr, plus i want her to have some capacity of more than 6+1 too.it is very rare that we aren't together so i normally have her covered as i carry.but it sounds good and seems like the taurus might fit her well.I have shot a charter arms bulldog in .44 mag and liked it pretty good but i am not much of a revolver guy especially a .44 type but they are fun to shoot. but since yours is a .38 i bet it does make for a great ccw like you said. my mom has a taurus .38 and while we are on the subject they make excellent ccw weapons as well.

Hi all!

jeepmor, I am still interested in picking up a pt145 and handing this to my wife.

Michael, thanks for the heads up on the IQ ammo.

usp9, charter says that some +p ammo use in this gun is fine, but to use standard pressure most of the time. so thats what I do.. I stay proficiant with the +P HiShok, but I practice with Win FMJ-FP 130Gr.
thanks for the heads up.

possum, the PT111 MilPro is a GREAT choice! and if the grip is any bit too small or not comfortable, a cheap Houge slip on grip is an easy addition.

heres also what is always on carry.
