Well the last day of 2003 and I decided to go out bird hunting.

Final tally, 10 doves, 6 quail and one Illegal imigrant. Found him on the side of the road out on the ranch we hunt. Called Border Patrol and gave them the GPS coordinates.

Was a good day for sure. Even seen a couple of deer. So its hot wings, and dove breast for finger food this eve.

Happy New Year everyone.

Sounds like a good time.

I spent most of the day chasing pheasants with a good friend and our dogs. Even got a couple, which will be eaten for dinner tomorrow night.

Now, on to planning next year's hunts!!

How exactly do you hunt illegal immigrants? Bait 'em in? Call 'em in? Stalk hunt?
Actually, he was just standing on the side of the dirt road looking lost. Had a black bag with him and was acting rather strange. Kept looking over his shoulder. Since it was so close to the border we elected to drive up the road a bit and keep an eye on him. I called the border patrol guys and gave them the GPS coordinates and that was about it. Before we got out onto the paved road we were past by 2 border patrol vehicles.

I see alot of signs out here in the desert. The washes are full of used Pedialite bottles, empty canned food items, clothes, and empty water bottles. The desert is litteraly full of debri. Sad.

i went out with my dad on a pheasant hunt Monday

one of the buggers had the gall to avoid my Dad's beretta
and flew at me cackling

he won't be making that mistake again

;)

leaving the fields we spotted this guy:

I closed out 2003 with an afternoon of duck hunting. It was a wonderful, very peaceful experience.

(i.e. no ducks)

Heres a pic of our take from today. 27 Doves, 4 Quail, 2 cottontails and 1 jack rabbit.

Was a good day.

Great hunt. Looks like a great way to spend the day. I didn't have much luck on my last day of deer hunting on the 1ST. Just glad I got five deer the first week of the season back in November. Now the deer season is over it is time to get serious about the bird hunting. :)

Lennyjoe - It looks like the antler busted off your jackalope!
I know, but I couldnt find the other one so we threw it in the back of the truck.

Second antler we found in this particular hunting area. Also seen 3 deer but couldnt tell the sex since they were hauling a$$.

Did find a stand by a water hole that was baited. Had corn and seed spread all around the pond. Needless to say, I wont be hunting around that water hole.

I went pheasant hunting on New Year's Eve in Southern Utah. Obviously it was a canned hunt with stocked birds but it was something. We each got five birds and I shot a chuckar in addition.
I tried to post a picture of us with the bounty, but the file is too big. I get tired of playing with these freaken digital pictures so I just forget it.
