With the way I had cut down the back of the slide to remove weight this slide was not a good candidate for an optics cut, and if I had done so the only thing retaining and stabilizing the optic would be the mounting screws. Not a good idea. I figured I would need to get a new slide and send it out for a proper RMSC cut. Lord knows when that would happen, my budget at the moment is zero. Maybe actually in negative numbers. Then I remembered my friend Brett had sent me an optics adapter plate that fit a Glock sight dovetail. I took some measurements, then busted out the files and went to work. I got it all fitted and mounted my Vortex venom. Here's the result-

OK, it's not as visually unique as it's original configuration but it works. Oh boy does it work! I took it to the range, got it zeroed and commenced to trying it out. 100 rounds went quick. It's as fast on target as before and accuracy was easy and more precise than with the original mono-sight. The real dividends came when shooting at longer ranges. This is my rapid-fire target at a bit over twenty yards-

The gun is everything I had hoped it would be; super-fast to aim, stupidly flat-shooting and super-quick back on target. I love it when a plan comes together. I was a little leery of having no back-up sights so I shot a half-size silhouette target at seven yards with the optic turned off. I ripped off eight fast double-taps which made a line of holes from the belly button to the chin on the target. Four of the shots strayed into the should regions, but they were still solid hits. I am experiencing inappropriate feelings for this gun. 😁
So I suppose now it's time to take it all apart and apply some sort of permanent finish. The options are GunKote or rust blue, and at this point I am leaning towards the rust blue. It's a tough, durable finish I can do at home, and I'm a little tired of GunKoting things.
