I am looking at starting to reload for a .204...So I go to a manual or two and they say they used a Remington 7 1/2..Small Rifle Primer....Then I go along looking in some Manufacture handout's..And it say's they used a ...........Federal205M...:fire:.which I believe is a small rifle magnum primer..OK..I see the same powder manufacture and I also see the Remington 7 1/2 which are not designated on the box as a small rifle magnum primer..So is the Federal 205 a Magnum prime...In the handouts when it does state the magnum primer it is always Fed205M...no other brand...?.I guess what I'm trying to ask ..I see the use of a Magnum primer and a reguar small rifle primer desiganted for the same powder and load data...What is your..thought on it?...Thanks

Thanks alot...I only use the Remington 6 1/2 primer's in my hornet cases...I had the Remington 7 1/2 already and preped 100 .204's...since I didn't have any Fed205M..the reason I thought it was a small rifle magnum primer is that I think the .204 is actually a .222 magnum case..necked down to 20 caliber...But as always before I do anything that I'm not sure of you can bet I'll have a post about it..Thanks

Don't load the 204 to hot, strange things happen like here. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=496271 Click for larger pic

WOW...I read all of the post 243 about the KABOOM..So when you talk about set back...Are you telling me that the bullet somehow was pushed into the case and then fired?..That takes a tremendous amount of pressure to damage steel like that..Glad your OK...Thanks for posting...
