I'm going to shoot in a USPSA shotgun match late next month. I'm not a shotgun guy, nor am I serious about this competition (other than beating my shooting buddy ). This is all just for fun.
We're limited to #7-1/2 or smaller shot. Our targets are mostly pole mounted steel plates and clays with a few poppers and mini poppers thrown in to the mix. I'd guess that 35-50 yards will be the max target range, but have no confirmation. The average target range appears to be much closer, similar (I guess) to a USPSA pistol match.
That said, I need some help selecting ammo and chokes. I know nothing about either, but I have some time to experiment and do some pattern work at the range.
What brand, type, and size shot ammo should I start with? I'm looking at the Winchester AA rounds, but there are 7 different varieties at Bass Pro, and 2-3 pellet choices per.
Any reasonable direction is better than depending on help from the guys at Bass Pro. Help!
Thanks,
Jay
