I'm thinking about going to the SE shotgun championships in Alabama next year. My understanding is that they use USPSA shotgun equipment rules. Now the 3 gun matches I shoot are local club matches, and the only big matches I have shot in have been unaffiliated with USPSA.

So what exactly are the shotgun rules???

Maximum barrel length?

Capacity?

Do they have pump vs. auto categories?

I'm assuming they have some sort of open class for compensators and optics.

God put shotguns on Earth for people like me. I'm looking forward to seeing what the best shotgunners alive shoot like. :)

Limited shotgun. 9 rounds max in the gun. No optics, no porting, no tech-loaders. No max barrel length.

Open shotgun. 10 rounds max in the shotgun. Thats the only limitation.

There is no pump division. Sometimes there is special recognition for it, but no separate division.

Jeff puts on a great match. Expect to see one of my stage designs there, hopefully Kurt wont change it too much. You can thank me later....

Thanks Hoser, I'm looking forward to it.

Looks pretty certain that I'm going to be able to go. I love shotgunning. And I love Alabama. I haven't been there in years. This would give me an excuse to go back and visit.

Shotguns are the only thing that keep me afloat in 3 gun. :D I'm pretty good with a rifle, but I get whooped with pistol.

You can find the complete shotgun rules on the USPSA site. I don't know if the SE match, now US Shotgun Championship, will be using IPSC rules or not. Some organizations put a limit on Limited or Tactical Shotgun length. There is a thread about this match on the Brian Enos site.

I asked over on Brian Enos's page as well. Thanks for the info guys. The only problem is that the Ironman is the weekend before. I don't know if I'm going to be able to do both, it may end up being one or the other.
