i'm currently thinking of a new gun barrel for my encore. i have a 16 1/4" mgm barrel in 20 vartarg, but i would like something a little better. tc encore in 27" mgm barrel in a 22-250 ackley improved, with a rifle twist of 1 in 8" or 9". bullets should be 60-75gr. groundhogs, cotoyes, and foxes will be on the menu from 250-400 yards, 20 vartarg gets out to 250yds. the 22-250ai will be better than the 220 swift because of brass and dies. is this all right? i'm disabled from a stroke, so excuse me if i messed something up

I think that it would work out for you, although a standard 22-250 Rem is no slouch either.
I built a 22-250 on a Turk Mauser 98 action using a Rem varmint weight take off barrel with a 1in14" twist and it shoots the 52gr A-Max quite well.

Here's a good site with some info on both versions that you may not have seen. They seemed to favor a 1in 9" twist for all around use.

I have a 22-250 AI many years now with a 1-9" twist and it shoots 77-80 grain bullets very well, and very fast!

I think its a good idea if you stick with the bullets heavier than 65 gr. unless its a 60 gr. Partition or barnes TTSX
