Gentlemen,

I have a Glock 23 and I am thinking about it would be nice to have a 22 cal. for target practice and save little money. Yes, I would be doing training with 40’s also, but a 22 would be nice to train with once in wile. Do you think it would be best to buy a 22 cal. conversion kit for the glock 23 or a separate 22 auto altogether? I like the idea of the conversion kit to be able to use the same gun; am I wrong in my thinking?

What are your recommendations?
What is the best brand for a 22 cal conversion kit?
A good 22 cal. for plinking around; don't need a high prices target gun.

PS: Can you get a high capacity 22 long rifle mags for a glock?

Personally, I like 22 conversions and have several (1911, CZ-75B, Glock 19/23 and DPMS dedicated 22 AR upper) with all but the Glock basically built into dedicated guns.

My advice on buying a Glock conversion is to avoid the Ciener unit. Mine has been unreliable with everything except CCI Stingers which cost more then my 9MM reloads. The second problem with the Ciener unit is it has only worked on one of three frames I've used it on. It works on my old initial issue G-19, but the mags bind up in my second gen G-23 and tools are required to remove the mags from a third gen G-23.

On the other hand, I have heard nothing but good reports on the Advantage Arms conversion units. If they had been available when I bought mine that's what I would have bought.
