22 hornet and barnes X

You mean a BSA Martini somebody barreled to .22 Hornet? Those X bullets are about the longest bullet for caliber there is, and at .22 Hornet velocities I could only see that for deer hunting or pelt saving. I shoot alot of .22 Hornet , I shoot some x bullets, I never think of the two together tho like I said maybe for deer .....
 
If your barrel twist is 1:16... well 50 grainers are probably to long to stabilize. You might have to go down to 45 or 40gr.
 
The Barnes, being all copper, are much longer for a given weight than their lead filled counterparts from other makers.

So they are not likely to stabilize ever in your Hornet. I don't know your twist but I am thinking the standard for a Hornet is 1 in 16. Ruger had some at 1 in 14. Still too slow for that long Barnes.
