Hello all,

I have consistently had troubles when resizing (neck or full length) 22 hornet. The decap pin sticks in the flash hole and pulls out of the die. Have called company and they have no answer. Any wisdom would be appreciated and exercised.

Thanks!

Hmm, my Redding bushing style neck sizer die and my Forster FL sizer die both have thin enough decapping pins that the pin easily passes through the flash hole. They both measure .063.

Redding offers two sizes of de-capping pins.

Seems like you need to get some to the smaller ones.
(part number 01059) are available from most Redding Dealers.

Or drill your case flash holes out with a 5/64 inch (.078") drill bit to fit the larger ones.

Take some emery cloth on the pin, shine them up a little, the stem could be miss aligned a little. If that don't work then go with a smaller pin, that would take less time and effort rather than drilling new flash holes.

Do you have off center drilled brass? I've never heard of this problem before. I use a Lee collet die but the bushing neck sizing dies sure look interesting.

Do you load other cartridges? Any similar issues?

I had the same problem once before I can't remember the type of brass it was either prvi or s&b I think. It wasn't either remington or winchester. As stated above I called redding they sent me a smaller decapping pin problem solved.

Upon further review it is happening in s&b brass. Just eyeballing the flash hole it is obviously smaller. Prob will cull the s&b since I don't have much of it. But will call redding again to inquire about smaller decap pins. They didn't seem to have an answer first time around.

Thanks again to ya'll.
