I used to shoot reduced loads in .22 Hornet years ago using 700X, but have been wanting to try Trail Boss.

I loaded 20 each of some Dogtown 34 Gr JHP's and some Hornady 35 Gr V-Max's with 3.6 Grs of TB using a WSP primer. I loaded the Dogtown at 1.752 O.A.L. & the Hornady at 1.768 O.A.L. Both fit in the mag. The V-Max touches the lands at about 1.778, so I am .010 off the lands.

I used some to get sighted in and then shot two groups with each bullet with a varying wind from the rear with a bit of right to left on it. The V-Max shot significantly better groups. These bullets had shot about the same with full loads of Li' Gun.

I saved one each ans shot them over the chrono at 5 yards. Dogtown 34 Gr 1476 FPS - Hornady 35 Gr 1578 FPS. Shot in my Ruger 77/22.

Almost zero recoil, very little noise................Sweet!

Walkalong, I gotta ask you..........did you have to put the little donuts through the case mouth one at a time? Sorry, i couldnt resist it. The proof is in the results though, isnt it? I guess thats one more caliber can be reloaded with Trailboss with good results.

Actually I had no trouble charging the cases. I used my 10X with a brass "funnel" I made for .22 caliber stuff. No bridging etc. The brass powder drop "funnel" rides in a connector under the measure. I made it a little long to try to get more Lil' Gun in the case. I made a short one, but screwed it up, and haven't re-done it.

The case runs up into the black connector engaging the "funnel", which rides inside the connector. The powder drops from the measure, to the funnel, and into the case.

I have 5 or 6 different "funnels".

I used Trail Boss for some .223 rounds for my granddaughter to shoot. She's very report sensitive and liked shooting the TB loads. I didn't do any accuracy or chronographing though. But they were deadly on a gopher mound about 100 yards away.
