It may be too late to buy this gun, but I would not recommend at that price. They did not sell for that much new when they were making them. I think they are a discontinued item so their scarcity might affect the price. Couple of months back, I saw a used one at Cabela's in KC for $350 with a scope, but it was a cheap junk scope and there were lots of dings on it so I passed it up. The one you are looking at, if you paid that price, is premium price, but at least you would have it, which is a good thng if it meets your needs. If you miss it at the auction, contact the seller and make an offer. Sometimes that works. You also might try contacting Cabela's to see if they have one in there vast data base. Do the same with Bass Pro. On rare items, they usually have them for close out prices. Good luck in your search.

Oh shoot!! I looked at the Gun Broker too quickly and did't realize there were 6 bids...so forget some of what I said. I think it's been bid up too high. "nuf said.

It sold for $485. I'm not particularly fond of that model. I know GB prices, like EBAY, can be above retail, I just haven't looked at Savage for awhile and can't get to stores easily. I really like CZ 550 AMERICAN rifles and should have bought the one I held about 4 years ago (204 Ruger). Prices on everything are so out of whack. I will continue the search for a SingleShot Hornet. Thanks for the info.

Actually, I really liked that model when I was looking into finding a .22 Hornet. Cabela's in KC had a new one on close-out for $330...that was about 2-3 years ago, but I was buying 2 other guns so I didn't buy it. The trigger on the one they had was crisp an light, just the way I like them. Still regret not buying it. I am still curios about Hornets and may buy one some day. My interest has gravitated toward .22 mags. I have .22s (two), .17 HMRs (two), .204, .223, and .243. Almost bought a CZ a few years ago, but have recently become interested in Anschutz. They are expensive, but the .17 HMR, model 1517MPR is an incredible shooter, which I bought on GunBroker for $706...a very good price. So, your question has fired me upo to begin looking for an Anscutz .22 mag or Hornet. By the way, a friend of mine has Ruger 77 heavy barrelled .22 Hornet that shoot very well and, of course, much cheaper than the Anschutz. Have fun looking. Tom
