.22 louder and smokier than usual - what caused it?

Today I was at the range and I was out of .22s so I bought a pack of them from the range. (Remington "Game Loads.") I usually use Federals. I was shooting my Savage 64 and a few times - like, 3 times out of 150 or so rounds - there would be a shot that would be louder and produce much more smoke than a normal shot. I only experienced this with the new Remington ammo. It was very surprising at first, all the thick smoke that was pouring out of the chamber and the louder than usual noise. What caused this? Poor quality control of the ammo?
 
Any number of factors really. I've seen it from time to time with every type of 22 ammo I've ever used probably. Sometimes you get one that sounds "different", louder, quieter, more smooke, sooty case etc.

But Reminton does seem to have more than their fair share.

I've also experienced this with Remington ammo (loud report, excessive smoke, and fouling); that coupled with way too many FTF's and FTE's, makes it one brand I no longer buy.
 
In an average box of 500 remington bulk ammo you can find enough inconsistant and varying tones during firing to actually replicate the musical scale.
I'm considering putting out a Christmas Favorites "CD" made exclusively from the sounds created by Rem Rimfire Ammo!
Just think of your favorite Christmas gingles created on your favorite .22.

except for the ammo in the orange, or yellow box, by remmy, which is made by eley anyway, THERE IS NO REASON TO RUIN YOUR WEAPON FIRING REMMY 22 AMMO!!!! Truly it is the definition of , suck the root. you cannot say enough bad things about remmy 22lr ammo, you just can't. And the amazing thing? you know remmy has had everyone , from the ceo on down, that read these posts, especially over on rimfirecentral.com, on how bad their ammo is, for the last 10 years now, and have they changed a thing? No. Becuase people who don't know, unsuspecting sheep, keep buying their ammo , because it is so prominently placed, at Wallyworld. So that is what peeps get.
When we all stop buying their ammo, maybe they will change how they make it.
 
Remington is now synonymous with crap in my book, and not just due to their lousy (and it is lousy) rimfire ammo. The overall quality of their firearms has been on the decline for some time now, and I have never had good experiences with their centerfire rifle ammo. The only Remington ammo that I used much of was UMC .45 ACP.

I just finished reading an article on Remington's "Custom Shop" and almost choked laughing at it. Not only were the rifles being produced there not all that nice, nor were they especially accurate. One thing they were was expensive, really expensive. The reviewed .22-250 had mediocre wood, poorly polished (think buffer wheel here) metal work, and had a best group of .75 inch. All for the bargain price of $3,141.00.

Why in the hell would I (or any other shooter) pay this much for a Remington 700, when you could buy a very nice Cooper that would shoot circles around it, have much nicer wood, and much nicer metal work, for less money?
