Demi-Human I was trying to be fair about my opinion of the sub quality ammo. ;)
I have heard recently that some users have gone through a box of GB with zero problems. Really?? Growing up and shooting 50 round boxes of whatever I could get my hands on as a 6 to 10 year old I do not recall a single dud in several thousand shot using many inexpensive brands. Makes one wonder about overall QC these days for sure. I still have 50 CAL ammo cans mostly full of loose .22, one each of WIN and Federal from before this last shortage put away. Have been buying Fed bulk packs recently to use and they are good to go as always. May have to start another can as not mixing old and new seems a good idea just because. Might leave them in boxes as well. At the height of the last shortage I could load 32 long, 9MM, or 38 SPL for the same or less cost per round as .22 so that's what I did to get by and still shoot a bunch. YMMV

swear that those cardboard bulk "value packs" sold for cheap are the way to sell assembly line culls/ mistakes that are inevitable with .22 ammo.
I agree. I stopped buying bulk packs a few years ado and keep about 1000 rounds of CCI Mini-mags and Stingers around for the end of days. Rabits are good eatin.

But I don't really shoot much rimfire these days.

I own a "few" stainless steel Ruger MK ll pistols that I use for target shooting. I do shoot a fair bit of .22 when it is available (between 1K and 2K a week) still but now I have retired so cost matters more. I do notice when the sound/recoil is about half a normal round znd the resulting flyer so stick with consistant rounds. It seems funny that the bulk packs of WIN or FED while having an occasional dud they shoot well when they go off. As far as CCI I can't remember the last time I had a bad round. YMMV

Fifty years ago Rem. produced very reliable .22 ammo. I think their quality has fallen off since 2000 or so. A couple years ago I was shooting my S&W K-38 and had a round of Rem. factory ammo fail to chamber. I looked closer and it was a .357 round but it was headstamped .38 Special. How could something like that even happen?
