At the relatively new (5/15) Gander Mt. store in O'Fallon, IL, they have Federal bulk .22 LR 36-gr. HPs for only $24.99/525!

That makes them $0.0476/rd and this was the white shelf tag price, NOT a "sale price"!

There was no sign about limiting the number of boxes either.

That's pretty good. I just picked up some Federal at the local Academy Sports for $2.29/50 rnd box. They limit you to 10 boxes though so I could only get 500.

What burns me is, go to any gun shop in town and the same box will cost you in the neighborhood of $5.

During this whole mess Academy has had "fair" prices whenever they have had stock. The purchase limits do help them have stock on-hand, but also make it not worth me making a trip there for only ammo. I have gotten ~$0.05/round .22lr there pretty regularly when I've been there for other things.

Before the craziness I'd buy 2-4K per trip about once a month to keep the wife and I shooting .22lr. We've cut way back to make what we had last, basically I only shoot .22lr when my wife comes along. I'd rather shoot my 9mm reloads than pay $0.10/round for .22lr ammo. YMMV.

That's awesome.... be more awesome if any stores near me had anything but high priced target ammo and spotty inventory at best.

Thank goodness for the internet

Seems more and more people are finding it which is great sign.

We had the same opportunity last week at the Fargo, ND Gander Mountain.

525 rounds of Federal Champion 36 gr. $24.99

No limit. They didn't last too long.

My bubba grew up in O'Fallon. Didn't know they had a Gander.

I would have bought all of that .22, I am running low.

Midway has the 325 box of Fed Auto Match available and 19.99, but a limit of one. Still not quite back where it needs to be, but a good sign.

Guys, if you want to get .22 for less than .05/rd, then wait for Black Friday when pretty much every sporting goods store is going to be selling bricks for $20-25. Yeah, you'll probably only be able to get 1 box after waiting in line, but that's why you wake up the old lady and both of you get a box.

Yeah, she won't be into it at first, but that's when you promise to buy her that new shiny thing she's been talking about since you forgot her birthday.

Academy near Olathe, Ks sells Fed Automatch 325 for $19.95 and have had plenty since spring, so they say. With tax that's about 6.6 cents per round....not bad and I didn't notice a limit when I was there 2-3 weeks ago.

Guess I'll have to mossy on over to GM or Academy.

Funny how I used to see hawkers out at gun shows for $75 boxes of Federal 525 count .22.

my academy in austin has had it on the shelf behind the gun counter for at least a week straight. i have been buying cci SV for 7/round, and quiet for 6c/round.

limit 500. I havent been going every day, but when I pass by Im picking up a brick. Doesnt look like anyone else is buying it.

They have 3 types of aguila, federal, cci blazer (5c/round), etc. The 500 limit seems to have stopped the resellers.

The GM in Greenfield,IN. charged me $34.99 a box for the same thing.

Just a 3-4 years ago I came across a sale on Remington golden bullets. Bulk pack was like $13. Apparently they weren't selling many at that time. Now any brick under .08 is a deal. Crazy.

Here, any .22lr that's under 8 cents/round is gone within minutes. Drives me nuts. Some of the stores have regular, scheduled deliveries, and there will be a line of people waiting. Guys waiting in a line at 7:30 am for a store that opens at 8:30, just to buy a brick of .22lr for less than $45, it reminds me of the pics of the breadlines in the 1930s.

I recently bought a box of 100 CCI small rifle primers and a box of 100 Winchester large rifle primers for $3.99 each. That's about 4 cents for just a metal cup, primer charge, and metal anvil.

I think it is unreasonable to expect a box of quality, sure fire, accurate .22 long rifle cartridges, metal case, primer, powder charge and bullet, for less than the cost of a centerfire rifle primer.

Yes, I remember the days of a box of 50 .22 long rifle at about one cent a round. I also remember in those days I could go to the Rialto Theatre on Saturday see a double feature, have Reese's Cups, Coke and popcorn, and after the movie buy a Famous Monsters of Filmland at the newstand across the street, on an allowance of two dollars a week. I got to thinking about that in 2010, and ran $1.00 in 1960 thru the Wikipedia inflation calculator and got equal to $7.50 in 2010.
