My .22lr shooting is down to about zero, what ammo I have is for my Wife and Daughters to shoot. My total shooting is up, using handloaded .38spl and .45acp. I cast the bullets from scrap lead. It costs me 6 cents per round of .38 and a cent more for the .45 exclusive of brass. :D

Thanks danez71
I will pay wal-mart price and the LGS price but will not pay the ammo flippers price.
The boys can really go though it, so I'm always on the look out for it to keep them shooting.

No problem.... I call them like I see them and I LIKE seeing parents spending time with their kids. Spending time shooting is even better. Teaching them about guns is like teaching them to swim (what to do and what not to do).

Boys will be boys :D Try slowing them down a bit. Get the into accuracy/competition with each other.

One thing that I think would be good to include is to set up 2 targets - 1 behind the other.

Like a paper target in front and an orange shotgun clay pigeon behind it. Or even 2 clay pigeons; 1 behind the other.

It sets up a little more challenging shot AND... It demonstrates in a way they can understand that the bullet is still dangerous to whatever is behind your target.

Rule # 4 is often forgotten especially with the young'ns

Because I simply love shooting my .22's. For the price of a Brick of ammo I can enjoy myself all day

Link to 9mm at 18 cents a round? I'd love to get some.

I'm finding 9mm here at $20 for a box of 50, where I can get a box of 100 .22 for $7. That's why. Plus, I can shoot the .22 at 100 yards with a bolt action rifle and the ammo goes by a whole lot slower.

We are fortunate to have an outstanding rifle/pistol range in our community with many disciplines which to join. Our SB Silhouette range is probably the most popular .22LR for family plinking fun coupled with beginners learning how to shoot. We also have a 10 station 50 foot indoor range for winter paper practice. There are leagues going on in the winter too.
