as a teen i was involved with the 4-h shooting club and shot three position .22. the club provided all my gear and the gun. this is one of those activitys that i really miss. i'm not really sure if i want to compete, but i would like to shoot in that style again. i can build my own range, but i need gear and a gun for it. i was wondering if anybody had any advice for a cost effective .22 bolt action, that i could rig the sights on? i remember using an old ruger in the club, but i can't remember the specifics.
secondly, where is a good place to buy this stuff?

The bolt guns I like are the CZ 452 followed by the Ruger 77/22 and any of the used Savages or new and used Marlins if on a tight budget.

If cost were not a concern the Sako Quad Hunter would be my first choice with all four barrels what more would anyone ever need.

Second choice cost not a factor the Kimber 82

Allot of good deals on used bolt action .22s check:

Best of luck

CMP selling sights and guns now

Just had an update from the CMP that they are selling target sights for .22 rifles currently. They also have several different rifles for sale. I've got one of each- 40X, M12, Win 52D. They all seem to shoot where you point them with Wolf Match Target.

thanks guys. i ordered the cmp catoluge and that model 82 looks exsactly like what i was looking for. also, dad now wants one of the m1 carbines. :D damn, new catolouge to drool on!
