.good for thinning out the tree rats
Also known as The North American Saber Toothed Tree Rat. lol

I have seen them around, but always for more than long rifles. Average seems to be $3.50 70 $4.50 a box. I keep them around for my Remington 550-1. The last round I load in the mag is a short and when I hear it go off I know the gun is empty. I don't like dry firing a 550-1, that firing pin is so long and fragile looking.

I like them, and keep some around for what I have that can feed on it.

I mostly see CCI in 100-round packs. I also picked up a brick of Remington Golden in .22 Short back when the Great .22LR Ammo Drought™ was just starting to ramp up. That is the only kind of .22 Short I have seen readily available in awhile (admittedly I don't look very hard). Haven't bought any in so long, I don't want to hazard a guess on current day pricing.

I did find recently a box of 100 for sale locally for $8.99. It seemed rather steep given that .22 LR is less. I do have a target pistol chambered in .22 Short...so, if I ever want to fire it, I have to pay the piper, I suppose. Hence, my question...

Last summer I saw them at a sports store in Door County Wisconsin for $25...ouch, but they were CCI Short Copper Plated Hollow Point 27gr 1105 FPS . In April I saw them at the Tulsa Gun Show for $15...ouch again. CCI also makes CB Shorts (conical ball) 29gr 710 FPS, which I bought for $10 at Cabela's awhile back. All of these listed are 100 round boxes. The CB Shorts are my favorite for backdoor rabbit elimination out of my wife's flower garden. The regular shorts we used 50 years ago to whack rabbits in brush piles for food are similar to the 1105 fps listed above, but were round nose, not hollow points. There used to be a round referred to as "CB caps", similar to a CB Shorts, but shorter, rounder and slower....but would still kill starlings off of my finch feeder.

I just got my first revolver ever, in .22 and like the CCI CBs. There is a
Long CB for around $12/100 and I see German CB Shorts for $40/100. I also saw some CCI CB Short, old stock, for $28/100 I backed right off that purchase.
