Does anyone have any data on penetration or fragmentation at that range?
It's almost at 2700 at muzzle out of my 16"

Hornandy lists the 200 yrd velocity at 2383 ft/s. Remember, with this round you are not constrained to a majic velocity number like with military ammo. This round is designed with an expanding projectile that will open at much lower velocities than the 55 and 67 grn FMJ the .mil guys use. This is part of the equation of using heavier expanding tip bullets in the .223. You can get much better performance and loose velocity at a slower rate than with the mil-spec stuff.

It is not an expanding projectile. Fragmentation is the terminal effect. TAP (along with every other OTM or BTHP) was initially designed as a match projectile. The open tip is just part of the manufacturing process. If you want expanding rifle projectiles, use softpoints.

It has been found that these BTHP rounds fragment very reliably at around 2300 fps or faster.
