First let me say I know every barrel is different. I am currently loading the .223 with H335. I hardly ever ask for loads but with primers being as hard as they are to find I'm asking now.

I load a 55gr too bullet with H335 and I have a fairly good load but I feel it can be better. I'm not asking for different powders or bullet weights, only your .223 pet load with H335 under a 55gr bullet.

Normally I would just do my homework and test loads but like I said, with primers being so scarce I would appreciate anyone who is willing to share their pet load with H335 and a 55gr bullet.

I am shooting an AR rifle in .223 and an AR pistol in the same .223.

Thank you in advance.

No chrono #'s, but 24.5gr under a Hornady 55gr fmj-bt seated @ 2.255, makes the 6" steel ping at 200 yds a lot more than it doesn't....

My load. My rifle. My capabilities.......works for me....:)

Bullet / Brass/ Powder and weight/ COAL/ Notes
55gr Ber FMJ/ LC / 24.5gr H335/ 2.25/ excellent in BREN 805
55gr Nos BT/ mix/ 24.7gr H335/ 2.24/ excellent, 2MOA
55gr Hor SP / Mix / 24.5gr H335/ 2.24 / Small Base dies, full case prep, excellent in Trash Panda, (my AR15)

There you go, academic purposes only, etc. :) have fun!

My Best load for a bunch of different AR15's is 25.2GR. with a OALof 2.200 with a 55gr. Hornady FMJBT

Hornady (and RMR) 55 grain FMJBT with 335 load of 24.5 grains seated to the cannelure @ 2.200 In a 20 inch barrel. Creates about 2900+ FPS.

Interested in others ideas.

Thank you so far everyone.

I didn't want to precious the suggestions so I didn't post my load. It seems 24.5gr to 25.0gr are the most popular loads. I usually load my ammo with 25.0gr H335 like many here. I will be trying 24.5gr and up to my usual 25.0gr load.

I may have actually did those tests years ago but I can't find my notes. I truly appreciate your help everyone, thank you all.

24.7 grains H335 under a 55 grain Hornady FMJ and Winchester SRP was the best H335 load in my 20” FN upper. It worked pretty good in my 16” upper too.

I've been shooting a mild load of 24 gr, mixed brass, whatever SR primer I can find, and the Speer 55 SP for general purpose shooting in a DPMS carbine 1:9 barrel. Kept mild in deference to max speed not necessary, and nice ejection pattern, and conservation of powder. It cycles the rifle reliably, and has plenty of margin of error given my mixed brass and random primer selection. I'm loading to mag length COL. When loaded in same headstamp LC 11 brass and a CCI SRM, the load grouped to within 1.5" with my horrible trigger.

I did play with this load in my 20" 1:8 NM rifle, and results (mixed brass) were unspectacular.

55gr Wolf FMJBT seated to cannelure (2.255) with a light taper crimp over 24.0gr H335 with a CCI 450 SRM in mixed brass gives me approximately MOA+ out of my only scoped 5.56 AR. I haven’t tested it with any of my other rifles.

25gr of H335 or Ramshot Tac behind a 55gr SP, Vmax, FMJ, HP, it don't matter, my ARs shoot any of them well enough that I just load and shoot them for whichever my intended purpose is, don't even have to change my scope zero.
