how has cfe 223 worked out for .223 ?
ran out of 748 and LGS has CFE on the shelf
I load 55gr to 69 gr and going to try 75gr
Thanks

Works great in my .223 & .308 bolt action rifles using 55 and 60 grain bullets. The closest thing I have to an AR is a Ruger Mini 14 and it requires a pretty stout load to cycle properly. The CFE 223 worked just fine. If I ever run out of H335 and Varget I would use it in a minute.

I shot a pound of it thru my ar with 55gn bullets and had good results. It seems to smell more than other powders when you shoot it

I tried to work up a load with 75/77gr match bullets and didn't have any luck with it. This was in an 18" 1:7 WOA and 18" 1:7 Douglas. Both barrels shoot well with H4895, IMR8208 and Varget. I'm using the remaining CFE223 for fire forming. YMMV.

My barn gun 308 shoots this very well with 165gr bullets. In fact outstanding. With the little gun it shoots well but I think Varget and 4895 are somewhat better at least in my guns.

I just bought a couple pounds and am looking forward to trying it and working up some loads on the 223/556 and 308 loads.
I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Used it in 6.8 and .223

I found that it worked quite well in a new 6.8 barrel to reduce copper fouling, and it was accurate also in a 24" target .223 AR

I've started using CFE223 in all my .223 loads. It is the cleanest burning powder I've ever used. I can fire 200 rounds and clean the barrel in about 5 minutes. With any other powder it would take about 15 or 20 minutes. It does not completely eliminate copper streaks but it does reduce them. Varget seems slightly more accurate, but it's hard to tell for sure.

All the positives makes me feel better about the decision I just made. I have yet to load .223 and .308 but I just bought 10lbs so I would have to only deal with one powder that seems to be available. Didn't hurt it was cheaper by a few dollars then the rest.

Picked up several pounds of pistol for $18/lb while I was at it.

Not found one real negative post yet about CFE. Some still have their favorites that they would prefer to use before CFE.
