Stuck Case Remover....check your local gun shop. Shouldn't be more than 10-15 bucks.

Or you can make one if you're handy for quite a bit less. Google is your friend.

Barring those solutions, you can mail the die back to the manufacturer and they can remove it (RCBS for sure...not sure about the others)

I had this happen to me a while back. I was able to back the decapping pin out of the die and with it in my press I used a phillips screwdriver and lightly tapped it out. I inspected the inside of the die and went back to reloading.

Decapping die!?

I was about to recommend you use a better lubricant, but you are using a decapping die not a sizing die.

How does one get a case stuck in a decapping die?

Still, you need the stuck case remover, because it is only a matter of time till you stick a case in a sizing die.

You sure it isn't a FL sizing die with the decapper / expander rod in it??

If it happens to be that, and it also happens to be a Lee FL sizing die?

Just loosen the collet nut on top of the die and hit the rod with a hammer to knock the stuck case out.

I have done this twice now (ugh!) I was able to use a set of vice grips on the bottom of the case and twist it out after some time. I loosened the collet nut on top and had to cut the case mouth open to get the decapping pin out. (Lee die) lemme tell you those cases looked like hell when done. I keep em above my bench as a reminder to make sure to get the corner cases on the loading block with lube!

Don't lube them in a loading block and you will probably never stick another one.

Whatever part of the case that is setting down in the loading block holes do not get any lube sprayed on them.
If it happens to be setting mouth up, the thick web section is inside the loading block, and it is the hardest part of the case to resize and needs lubing the most.

The best way to spray lube cases is laying flat in a mixing bowl, or on a newspaper, or in a zip-lock bag. Spray lightly, then stir them around with your hand, and spray lightly a little more.

At least all of the case will get some lube on it.
Which can't happen setting up in a loading block.

Is this a decapping pin stuck in a flash hole that is too small?

You will be lucky to get that case out of there without bending or breaking the pin.

That has happened to me with 223 mixed brass.

I sort out that brand of brass and throw them away.

To measure the pin, you can use a micrometer or calipers.
To measure the flash hole, pin gauges are again handy for hand loading.

It was a full length resizing and decapping (Lee), I failed to lube the case, and it got super stuck. Oh well, rookie mistake on my part. I have just started this whole reloading thing only recently.

Thanks for the reply.

Lee instructs to loosen the collet(Do not remove it) & use a punch to drive the expanding rod down.

I just got my new expander/deprimer SE2172 yesterday. I read the instructions after I removed the collet. I also trashed the lock ring.

I need to check into this case remover though.

ETA:I tried to reuse the lube that had squirted out of the top. I guess it was to dirty I don't really know.
