.223 Wylde Barrel Recommendations

IF you're not hung up on chrome lined, and I agree that it doesn't jive well with high accuracy, I'd consider White Oak Armament. I put one on an SPR build this summer and it shoots very, very, well. Great folks to work with and I had a custom fluted barrel to my door in a couple weeks. It's held sub-MOA out to 550 yds with Sierra 77 OTMs. I've got a couple of Faxons, and they're sub MOA with some load development. The WOA has been sub MOA with everything I've tried in it, also being lapped it cleans like a dream.

1st 3 shots from my brand new WOA while breaking in the barrel and working up a load:

After this coming 3Gun match season I'm going to get another one for my 3Gun carbine and replace the Faxon "Gunner" that's on it now.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

I went with this: https://faxonfirearms.com/match-ser...ngth-416r-nitride-5r-nickel-teflon-extension/

And this: https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/faxon-ultra-low-profile-gas-block-750?a=2202826

Although the OEM S&W M&P 15 barrel shoots MOA (Always before, mostly now) with either Frontier 5.56 or handloads, it is now keyholing Tula and Wolf .223, so I think it's ready for pasture. I use those as SHTF lowest common denominator universal ammo compatibility test rounds. I didn't want to spend Krieger cash, and I found this in stock, so this is it. I hope I get the results that Marshalldodge posted.

I looked at WOA keenly, but I don't want a shiny barrel, and that's all I saw for Wylde. Odd, unless my error.

They bead blast them for about $30, here's a pic of mine before it was installed:

This was not an option during checkout, as I did not buy from Faxon. What does this do, and is it beneficial enough to pursue with Faxon?

I also had no option to pair a different bolt. My assumption is that the different bolt would be either longer or shorter to engage the ogive with the lands right?

And if so, I'd need to send my BCG to them right?

Will do, thx.

It's probably about 99.99% unnecessary, but I check headspace on every AR15 I put together. Something about 55,000 PSI next to my face.....

A set of Go, No-Go, and field gauges is cheap insurance and it only takes a couple minutes to check. Really easy before the barrel is installed, especially when paired with a bolt vice. I've only had 1 every fail a field gauge and the company quickly replaced that bolt.

For the WOA barrel, I bought a bolt from them that was "matched" to the barrel for minimum headspace. Some of the premium barrel guys offer this as a service. At this point it didn't seem to hurt.

Back to the drawing board. The place I ordered from didn't mention it was a backorder with a timeline of March. I found that accidentally just now when I looked at the confirmation email. Fu****s.

After an hour of searching, these don't exist.

I have a couple Wilson Combat barrels and they are awesome. Mine are 6.8spc and just stack rounds at 100. I have been looking at that same barrel or the 20" for one of my ARs. Those are out of stock now, but if you give them a call they will put your order on a waiting list. I regularly use their BCGs on my builds. Top notch stuff

Keep in mind that barrel profile has a bigger .875" diameter gas block. Not sure if you noticed or not

Probably won't affect the handguard fitment but most barrel profiles will use a .750 gas block. Just something to think about while you are acquiring parts since it is not a typical thing

For the best. Friends don't let friends buy Faxon (or Ballistic Advantage. Or Aero Precision).

See if the Lothar Walther guys can hook you up.

Okay so I ordered this mainly because it was the only one of any discussed, which showed as in stock. I also ordered the black coating. I couldn't believe it was in stock, so I called a couple days later. It was BACKORDERED. I can't win.
