You're kidding, right? BWAAAAA, ha, ha!
We used to have a .22 shoot at pin matches, just set the pins a foot from the back edge rather than three feet per norm. Not sure, maybe you have such a shoot in mind? CCI mini mag is as good as any high velocity. Go for bullet weight, not just velocity. Calculate the momentum of the published velocity/bullet weight and pick the highest, but to be honest, not a lot of difference, they're all pathetic.
Also, aim for the top part of the pin, the only way you're going to knock it over with a .22. It barely flinches if you hit the meat of the pin.
When you become a serious pin shooter (if there is such a thing anymore
) you'll be shootin' .45 auto, revolver or auto loader. You got to go with the mo....momentum.... to clear them pens off the table. 180 grain .357s don't do a bad job of it, but .45 is a sure thing and is faster to shoot. When I was shooting a lot of pins, I had the ultra hots for a Smith and Wesson M625. I bought an old 1917 moon clip Smith, but sold it. I shot auto with a 1911 at the time and later used my P90 Ruger which I was about as fast with. My best times are low 5 seconds for six pins which was good enough down here at our little local shoots. I still have a lot of pins left over and probably should build another pin table for the club. I build the last one we had and it lasted a while. I kept having to put new tops on it and eventually our great club shooters shot it all to heck when I quit maintaining it....:banghead: A lot of it was the cops that use the range, I reckon. They were lucky to even get close to the table...:banghead:
I'm just guessing you probably already have a big gun and your club shoots .22s or something and I've probably told you nothing you didn't already know.
