22LR Conversion..The next frontier ?

Given the ever increasing price of large caliber ammo and the shortage of ammo in general, will we start seeing conversion kits to allow the use of 22LR ammo in various semi auto and automatic weapons ?

The gun enthusiast will always want to target shot and plink, but with ammo availability and costs becoming a burden, it seems to me that the market might be right for conversion kits.

Any thoughts ??

I say no.

Most conversion kits cost just as much as a new .22 gun. Why buy a conversion when you can have two guns. As a general rule.

I think that's why you will be seeing more 22LR guns that are copies of the full sized ones. GSG already has the MP5 and is brinking an AK to the market. SIG has a 22 copy of the 556 coming this summer. Smith & Wesson is bringing out a dedicated 22 AR/M&P.
I think even more companies will start doing the same.

Yep, umarex (or whatever they are called) is making a colt AR in .22lr, but it is not normal AR compatable. Only reason people will buy it is because it will be called colt....i feel bad for them if it is build with the same high standards as other Umarex guns.....
