.22lr MEGATHREAD

I got an alert email about some for 7 cents a round, but this dealer had HIGH shipping costs, and would of equated to $53 a brick once shipping was factored in.

I get other at the same price so far CCI 100 round boxes $7.00 an change and Remington 500 rounds same price as the Federal it just depends what they have in stock. ALL the Ammo here comes from the Walmart D.C. in the Bakersfield CA. area.
I'm sitting in Bakersfield (at work) now. The distribution center is in Porterville - they come down Hwy 65 all the time, and I pass them on 58 heading home.

The local Walmarts all have signs that say they will have 22 ammo available on Saturday mornings ONLY with a limit of three. I guess that puts folks on a level field with the "scalpers" but I ain't going to WM on Saturday morning and standing in line for much of anything.
I was in a store in FL last week that had a sign saying that ammo would be stocked at random times throughout the day.

Oh okay I knew it was up there some where I am in Riverside county so they come down a good distance.

Sportsman's guide had 13 items of 22 in stock a week ago, now down to 10.

They are even running out of stock on more expensive $6 a box ammo.

That scares me.

BTW, I can't believe how short sighted people at gun broker are.

Been watching auctions for a week, cheap ammo goes for over a dime a round plus shipping.

Again, no one is bidding on it.

Ok. so out of 40 pages of over priced ammo, you found two with bids. I should have said "Almost no one is bidding on".

You can buy .22LR on line. Sign up for all the good seller daily emails. Now it won't be $10 brick, but it will be better than GB. Even the Cabela's wood box deal was better than most offerings on GB, IMHO.

Please stop pretending to know other people's situation.

Please stop spamming this thread to do nothing but complain about other people.

Example: Do you really think it is "short sighted" to take your 8 year old child to an Appleseed to learn about Liberty, heritage, and the fundamentals of marksmanship? Or should they wait until their child is 11 so as to avoid buying in the 2013 - 2014 - 2015 ammunition market?

But hey, you know who bid on that ammo, why they bid on that ammo, what they are going to do with that ammo, and what they in ought to have done instead.

Your post does not add anything.

In what exact "situation" would people need a reason to overpay for ammmo, when sites like brass badger, ammoseek, etc show people the lowest price.

I should of clarified, it make sense for people to overpay, as in paying the "going rate" for ammo when they need it, for whatever reason that may be.

It doesn't make sense for people to overpay more for it, when it can be had cheaper.

There are tons of places 22 can be had for 8-10c a round, 12 is just ridiculous.

Not everybody is internet/WWW savvy enough to know all of the ins and outs and where to look and when. And sometimes people overlook the shipping price when they hit the bid button and then cannot take it back. Believe it or not sometimes a person makes a small mistake like that

But you linked Remington subsonic, 500 round brick, from a top-25 seller with an FFL. Can you link where is it available from a known-good, reputable seller, in stock, for less than the Gunbroker price of $46 + $20 shipping.

Remmy subsonic?

So you are signing in to THR to complain about somebody 'overpaying' on that Gunbroker sale, but you cannot point to that particular ammo for less money somewhere else?

One of the things you'll learn as you gain some experience with .22lr is that every gun is different and every gun has its own preferences in ammo. The same is often true for shooters.

Perhaps this person you keep complaining about wants Remington Subsonic specifically? Maybe you should find a way to send them a message and ask, so that you can berate them if they say otherwise.

OK, guys, let's put it this way:

Let's say I don't have ANY .22LR ammo. I want to go squirrel hunting next weekend, I want to take my kids out to a shooting event in a few days, whatever. Bottom line is I want to go shooting and I don't have time to wait some indefinite period in order to get the best possible price.

THIS guy is going to buy .22LR ammo where I can find it NOW so I can go forth and be happy doing the things I want to do with it.

If I'm bidding on ammunition on gunbroker or other sites, then I'm perfectly willing to pay the prices I'm bidding on...or I wouldn't be doing it. I have evaluated my circumstances and have made the decision to do so. Nobody else out there can gainsay my reasons for doing so because of circumstances that THEY'RE willing or not willing to buy under.

THAT'S the point I believe Warp is making.

People want to buy on gunbroker...more power to them.

I am mostly a hunter but have always loved plinking with 22s. In the past I had been buying my 22lr ammo in smaller quantities (50-100 rounds at a time) and that would generally last me a whole squirrell hunting season. If I were plinking I would use about 50-100 rounds a day. I started shooting more this summer/fall and burned up most of my supply. Then I went to replenish I found there was a shortage. Over the course of a few weeks I would stop in and try to find some ammo at various big box stores but everywhere was sold out. My local gun store had a bunch for 6.99 a box but couldnt justify spending that amount. I did scoop up a box of winchester for 11.99/100ct.

I got sick of running around and eventually ordered some online.

I got a brick of magtech for 3.89/box and came to a bit under $50 with shipping. I also bought a brick of winchester in a cool wood box and cashed in a cabelas coupon for the cost of the shipping.

Whew I should be able to ride out this shortage

Got a wikiarms alert. Cabela's has remmy for 26.99 a brick.

Shows: IN STOCK.

I call to place an order "oh thats out of stock". Really? It shows in stock on your web page?

So I ask if I could back order it, nope.

Here is what I do more for amusement than anything else. I simply have Cabela's in my Favorites and a shortcut link on my desktop.

Just Click Here.

Every now and then I click the link. Sometimes they have ammo and sometimes they don't. By the time you get and follow up on a wikiarms alert they are likely to be out of stock. I also have my little list standing by of things I want or need be it dies or anything else. Why screw around with calling them? Within a few clicks I am in my account and order what I want. I also use my Cabela's coupons for free shipping when possible. Why bother to call? Within minuets I get a confirmation email and can follow up anytime I want.

Another option I use locally is the Gander Mountain ten min down the road. If they are going to have any they will shelf it by around 9:30 after a 9:00 AM opening. This is the Gander Mountain in Twinsburgh, Ohio. I don't bother with the local Walmarts. I don't make a special trip but if shopping in the area I check it out.

This isn't rocket science. Oh yeah, you can drag the link I posted to your desktop. Double click it every now and then.
