Does anyone have any reccomendations or heads up advice about choosing a red dot sight for a .22lr auto.

From my inexperienced viewpoint, the BSA 30mm sight looks pretty nice for $30.
BSA 30mm rimfire sight

its going to be mounted in a mossberg plinkster, so pinpoint accuracy isnt an issue. Reliability (toughness) and reasonably accurate, quick aiming is what im after.
dont want to spend more than $50

I made the mistake of picking up one of these in a bigger order. It has the worst parallax you can imagine. If I lay it on a table and sight at an object across the room with the dot in the center of the scope and then move my head around the point of aim of the dot moves by about a foot in a room about 20 feet across. I've tried it on a rifle where your head is relatively stationary with so so results. Guess you get what you pay for.

River--I have one of these in a Tasco (BKRD30) same sight. Mine has very little paralax but the down side of these cheap dots is the brightness of the dot. On a sunny day against a light background the dot will be difficult to see. On a .22 rifle I would go with a low power 1" scope. It will be as fast on target and you won't have to worry about forgetting to turn off the sight and running the battery down. If you decide to buy that sight anyway they can be bought as tasco's or Simmons for $25-29 places other than CTD. Nick

If you really want a cheap red dot, go to Walmart and buy about 4 of them.
Then take them home and check them all out and see which one has the least parallax and the roundest dot.
Take the others back.

Or, if you want a really nice product that will last forever, or close to it; go buy an Ultradot from Larry's Guns:

(Or your other favorite retailer. But I like Larry's and they've done right by me in the past, and they have free shipping on the Ultradots.)
