Greetings and Merry Christmas to all!

First time poster here. Trying to find some load data for some Missouri Bullet Company coated bullets I was given with some of the powder I have on hand. I have H110 and W231. Looking for something stout, but that can be fired comfortably at length out of a 2.5" Ruger Super Alaskan, and my 6.5" old 29-2. Something nice in the middle. The bullet data is as follows:

I'm looking at my other data, and for H110 and cast 240 grain loads I have a work up from 21.5 to 23.5 grains. Not knowing about these coated bullets, I was still figuring on something around 22 to 22.5 grains to keep under 1300 fps. Anyone with experience with these?

Neither of those powders are ideal for mid range loads in 44 mag. Do not download H110 below published minimums. 21.5 grains might be ok with that bullet but will be a handful. H110 is for true magnum loads. 5.7 grains of W231 would be a nice light load. You can increase the amount of W231 to get in midrange territory but at the cost of a lot of pressure. The best powders for midrange would be Unique, Universal, or Power Pistol.

I second BW460. H110 makes a great max load.
Universal, unique, blue dot, and 800x make a good medium/ high power load.
My choice is 800x.

My opinion; A lot of advertising hype. BHN 18? I have never used a bullet tht hard (I cast my own. My 44 Magnum "T-Rex Killer" loads use a home made Lyman #2 alloy, BHN 15). For Magnum Loads "Hi-Tek 2-Extreme Coating"? Never heard of Hi-Tek 2, but I guess I could be wrong. I have driven my PCed 240 gr Mad Dog design BHN12 bullets to well over 1,600 fps through my Puma carbin. Accurte and functioned well...

I haven't used H110/W296 in many years, I didn't like the "Magnum only" loading. I used WC820 for my magnum loads along with more versitale 2400, AA 9 and some Lil' Gun...

^^^ I too question the need for a hardness of BHN 18 from a middle of the road .44 mag load. While I love me some H110/W296 in .44 mag, I find there are other powders out there that work better for those middle of the road applications. It's not a safety issue, but more economics and cleaner burning.
