hey guys. I have an AR lower that needs an upper. I found an Olympic upper in 243 and 25 WSSM that sounds kind of interesting. Looking for opinions on these cartridges, would one be better than the other, and also this upper, have heard some bad reviews on Olympic stuff, hows this one......anybody know? Also considered the 6.5 Grendel........experiences and opinions on this one would be great too. Uses will be target shooting and some deer hunting.

    Thanks

    Jason

The WSSM calibers are basically short WSMs. They are good, but they burn barrels, the .243 is equiv to the 6mm remington, and the .25 to the .25-06. They will burn barrels just as fast with light bullets.

The 6.5 Grendel is a great cartridge, with good brass available* and a wide selection of bullets. THh problem is, parts and brass are kinda hard to find (this is the "*"). AA has restrictions on it, and they are not letting people make 6.5g rifles and ammo without paying royalties, which most companies are not willing to do.

What kind of barrel life can be expected from the WSSMs?

If you want an interesting upper take a look at the 300 Whisper.

You can load heavy, slow and very accurate long distance 240 grain rounds or you can load to just under 308 performance with 150 grain rounds.

And you use very little powder in the process.
