.25 cal M-rod @ 100fpe

Hi all, I'm new here and just saw the air gun section. I am a proffesional hunter here in Botswana and on my own time enjoy hunting with my .25cal m-rod. Although my gun with lots of mods have plenty of power I struggle with the ammo!

So I was wondering if anyone out there know of any heavier .25cal ammo and something that's a bit harder than the standard stuff.

Alternatively if anyone knows of good moulding equipment, that could also work so as to make my own.

I have taken quite a few animals so far but will be able to do so much more with better ammo.

Things are quite limited here in Africa so I haven't had a chance to play around with a lot of options in this regard.

For moulds check the castboolits.gunloads.com forum. There are a couple of custom mould makers there and if something doesn't already exist they can probably cook up something for you.
Where in Botswana do you live? I used to live in Gaborone back in the late '70s.

Did some searching and found these: http://hunters-supply.com/shop/air-251-cal-p-1474.html?osCsid=5oj1kjbnptk1b9ij2i5qb9q6f6 which might offer better penetration than the air rifle diabolo pellets will. The copy says they've been tested in the Marauder so I'm assuming this means they'll fit in the magazine...but can't be sure.

I'm also assuming they'll chamber without excessive pressure but again..it's conjecture so you're on your own there. Some find they have to relieve the leade to get a bullet type projectile to load in an air rifle barrel meant for diabolo pellets so if you get something like these and find them difficult to chamber you'll know what needs done.

I only have .22 Marauder magazines here to measure so I've no way of knowing how much room you have in yours for bullets. The .22's will take about .380" while that Hunter Supply bullet says it's .421 so maybe the .25 mags are longer? Hope so!

Good luck on your search for a better projectile to use in the Marauder. The .22's work nicely with the heaviest 25 grain pills and the .25's are real hammers by comparison. Good shooting.

You can go .515" OAL in a 25 mrod mag.
