rifle first
i love the ones that say they make dime size groups @ 100yd, they just leave out the part that the gun was locked into a leadslead or a vice.
(not saying it cant be done just most cant do it that i have seen)
do it free hand then brag, as for me I'm happy with keeping it in the black with open sights at 200yd (old military rifle's) on a bag rest
as for my 45 i normally do better at 25 yards then some at 10 yd, and I'm not that super of a shot, but they do seem to group nicely, sometimes middle sometimes to the low left.
also depends on the gun my xd is different then my 1911 on were and how they group.
my xd doesn't care for 260gr much but the 1911 does,
now their is an older gentleman that shoots a ruger MKII 22 off a bench rest 50yd and keeps all in the black dime size target, he is pushing 70 years old. he will try 10 different brands of 22's and when he finds that one batch that is right he will buy all they have of that batch number. and some batches are way different then others, i mean some go from 4in group to dime size, it is fun to watch him try out different ones till he gets the one batch that is right.
FYI===so sometimes if your gun seems to be off it might be the ammo and not the gun/scope
