I read a lot about these on on other forums and the thought was intriguing so I loaded up some Oregon Cast 250 grain RNFPs with 5 grains of win 231 and an oal of 1.19". All I have to say is wow! These are great to shoot. They give the 1911 a nice kick I have never felt before and they are very accurate. My only concern is when I ran a few mags through the chronograph I got an average velocity of right around 800fps. I was wondering if 800fps may be over pressured for a 250 grain .45acp? There does not seem to be any documented data on this load. Any ideas?

It sounds reasonable.

Taffin runs 250gr SWC at 950 FPS from a 4" 45 ACP revolver using Unique.

That's about right from a 1911. That is as fast as I would push a 250 Gr from a 1911 keep from beating up the gun though. 750 to 800 FPS with a 250 should be lots of fun. I was probably running them closer to 700 to 750 when I was loading them for my 1911.
