.270 is hard to beat.

I shoot a .270 Winchester model 70, and i'm extemely satisfied with it. It is extremely flat shooting out to about 300 yards. It outshoots a friends .308 at the same distance. For coyote, deer, You can't beat the .270. - i have never hunted moose, but believe the larger caliber would be ideal, though have another friend that harvested moose in alaska with a .270 and he swears it shoots fine.
If you are thinking of purchasing a rifle, I believe there are quality issues in firearms that should be closer inspected. you can get a lemon in either .270 or .308, choose your particular rifle carefully, regardless of caliber.
