At present I am working up load data for this powder. Lee has a start at 52.6 with a max of 56 for 130 gr jacketed bullets. Has anyone else worked up loads for this? I am loading a Hornady SST 130 grain.

A while back, I decided to try something less temp sensitive than my tried and true load using a 130 gr Ballistic tip and IMR 4350.
I went to the store trying to decide whether I'd buy IMR 4451 or RL 16. My decision was made for me as they only had the RL 16 in stock. I really like the RL 16!

I know that doesn't help, but I don't think a lot of 270 win shooters have tried that powder. I think you are good to go with data you have and I also think you will love that powder. I've read tons of good about in in 270 win.

Thank you. I plan on loading 5 rounds from min of 52.6 moving up to 55 max. That's one grain below max. I have a good c.o.l for the cartridge so that is not to much of a issue. I want to find the best recipe for my rifle. Good accuracy equates to ethical hunting in the field.

Jarhead, curious how the loads went? I'm thinking of trying it my 270win
They went well, the top end load gave me a 1.25 inch group at 100 yds. The lower end loads went about 2.5 to 3 inches. I may take the top end and tweak the load up 2/10 and down 2/10 to see if it tightens up a little more.

My go to Deer / Antelope load in my 270 Win. Tikka T3 is a 110 TTXS W/ 58.0 of IMR 4451. 3240 FPS. Shoots under MOA @ 300 yards. I had to work up this load since there was no loading data for this powder / bullet combination.

I’m loading 4451 in my 30-06 and really like the results. I’ve found 4451 performs really close to 4350. 57.5 grains topped with a Hornady 165gr BTSP. Sorry, not .270, but i thought I would share my thoughts on 4451 for use in hunting loads.

My Savage rifle liked Speer 130 grain Grand Slams the best. With 45.3 grains of IMR 4320 I got 2750 FPS. At 100 yds with a rest I could regularly shoot groups that a quarter would easily cover. Alas that is discontinued now so my next best load is the same bullet with 47.5 grains of IMR 4064. I got 2850 FPS. Those rounds still will fit under a quqrter but just barely. Tried to slow them down to 2750 or so and the group opened up over an inch. Oh well. Good news is I got another pound of IMR 4320 in a trade.
