270 Win Re Loading

Hello to all.

Does anyone have any suggestions for reloading the .270 Winchester using IMR 4895 and 130 grain Hornady bullets?

Lots of info in the reloading section. There have been several .270 threads lately and many knowledgeable loaders there to help.

IMR4895 is a bit fast for 270 and 130g bullets. You'll get a nice low recoil load, but it won't get the full velocity potential from the cartridge.

If you check out the Hodgdon website they have load data for the IMR powders.

I agree 4895 is a bit slow for 130gr in .270 win. Probaly be ok for those 90gr varmit bullets.

trade it to a friend for his IMR 4350 or IMR 4831

Or better yet, get some RL22 or H4831.

IMR 4831 is what I currently use. H4350 came highly recommended, but did not shoot well out of MY rifle.

58.3gr of H4831 and 130gr Interlocks seated .30 from the lands has been my load for those bullets.

130 gr. Hot Core BT, RL22, RL19, IMR-4350 have all worked very well. Velocity has always been up at 3100 fps + . But IMR-4895 is too fast a burning powder for that application.
