I bought an old MEC single stage loader and then had to have a 28 shotgun to shoot. Bought a nice Remington 1100 in 28 guage. So started to research some recipies..
I am using Hodgdon Lil' Gun powder. Hodgdon site says to use between 22and 27 grains of powder for 7/8 oz of shot. Now using the MEC bushing conversion chart I decided to go with the #18 which kicked out 20 grain +/-. (never been real worried about precise measurements with shotshells)
The shells fired nice and were FAST but they were a little HOT.. So hot infact that the empty hulls kick close to 15 feet to my right. Kind of funny but I think a little too hot, so I dropped it down a bushing to #17 or 19 grains, still threw the hulls 15+ feet away..
BTW using eiter CCI or Winchester primers and Remington STS hulls..
So anyone got a recipie for 28 gauge and Lil' Gun powder for 7/8 oz load...
Thanks
