I had recently posted some photos of the 2Hawks "Warbeast"

I really liked the quality of the "Warbeast", so I decided to purchase another of the 2Hawks line.

Here are some pics of the "Woodsman". Same 6150 Vanadium spring steel and all hand made in Missouri.

This hawk is quite a bit smaller than the "Warbeast". About 13 inches in length with about a 2.5 inch cutting surface. Really fast and lightweight. Should make a very nice light duty trail hawk.

Very fair prices, however their claim that 'hawks are "long acknowledged as the finest close-quarter battle weapon ever made" is utter nonsense. Short swords have speed, reach and power over hawks, and a spearman will make short work of a 'hawk guy.

Out of curiosity, has anyone ordered a 'hawk recently from 2 Hawks? I ordered one via the web site and Paypal a week ago, and haven't recieved any confirmation of order. He's still selling/shipping right? His site says upon receipt of payment, a confirmation/ est. ship date will be sent.
Just wondering if this is the norm?

I have always bought mine thru "Howe's Knife Shop". Their price seems to be a little better and free S/H. Nice folks to do business with (They are a retired couple, operating a mom & pop type store)

I bought one around Christmas through the Pathfinder School store, would recommend them to anybody who can afford one. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

close-quarter battle weapon

Hum... Since we're talking pre-modern, I'll vote for a double 20 gauge loaded with buck and ball. Not as Medieval, but conceals better than a spear, plus it gets a 10 on the cool scale.

The 2hawks Competition kinda grabs my attention. $100 for a good throwing hawk, is more than reasonable.

Best hawk, I ever handled/owned is a TVA throwing hawk. When Ernie Tidwell first left Dixie Gun Works and started his custom rifle business, he carried a variety of hawks for Buckskinners. My throwing hawk has right at a 4 inch cutting edge for a good stick and is similar to the light belt axes I've seen at some of the Renaissance Fairs. I've carried hawks for years in the woods and they will always have their place as a light belt axe. On my camping trips, I have since replaced my hawk with a folding saw for most cutting needs. I recently picked up an 8 inch "Afghan Kukri" off of Ebay from the EX-GURKHA KHUKURI HOUSE, www.nepalkhukurihouse.com. Just had a custom leather sheath made for it. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it has some great possibilities.

Regarding 2Hawks / Devin Price

I talked to Mr. Price last week, and he is back from his honeymoon. He is going through emails, confirming payment receipt and setting delivery expectations. I got an email from him today with confirmation and thanks.

From my conversation, everything seems good. He's working on a backlog driven by sudden popularity. i didn't get the kind of feel I've gotten in the past from craftsmen who for whatever reason "lost it". Based on the price I paid and his backlog timeline, I'm willing to wait.
