2x as many favor more guns over banning guns to reduce crime

That's because you don't fight forest fires with a bottle of Perrier if you have any common sense.

You have to leave the "common" part out of the above quote IMHO.:banghead:

A friend recently challenged me to look locally at the problem of firearms control and see that nobody really needs a firearm period. He is a Democratic leaning firearms owner that is shedding his before they are "worthless".:what: My sight picture is the younger generation in general around here can't find work and therefore rely on the government for EVERYTHING and just sit at home drinking beer and doing drugs, that results in more children (possibly addicted or worse) of theirs that we (the local government) will have to provide for in the future. The government in general always loves more voters.
I learned this lesson years ago while watching a kindly neighbor lady feed a couple stray cats that were starving using up her savings for a couple years. The result was when she died penniless a few years later there were about 200 well fed feral cats that are now roaming the neighborhood and starving.

Too many of us are fighting this battle based upon the assumption that "gun control" is about guns, and that the other side really thinks they're working toward "safety" and crime reduction.

Breaking down the other side's argument to them is futile; they don't believe it any more than you do. Their argument needs to be broken down to the public, and their real agenda needs to be exposed.

Look locally? Ok, when I look locally (my house), I don't see anybody else here offering protection than me? Do people even listen to themselves speak as they spout nonsense?
