3 gun comp

I've just started doing pistol competitions and if I ever got the chance to do a 3 gun that would be cool.

What do most people use as a rifle and a shotgun? I'm guessing an AR for the rifle, but what else is out there and what shotguns?
 
Pump or auto?

If I don't want an AR, is there a manually operated division for lever-action rifles?

I'm really interested in a lever-action rifle and being able to compete and use it at speed would be nice.
 
If competing with a lever has struck your fancy, you ought to consider coming and playing Cowboy.
 
The problem with shooting a lever gun would be the round count.

Unless you can figure out a way to reload your lever gun VERY quickly.

There isn't a class in 3-gun where you wouldn't be severely hampered with every lever action I can think of. Modify a lever action to accept detachable magazines and you would be in business.

It would be cheaper to get an AR or an SKS and feed the SKS from stripper clips.
