I was wondering if someone could help me find a 3 gun match in virginia. Possibly willing to travel to NC if there are none in the area. I'm in the Richmond area.

3rd Saturday in June at Rivanna River in Charlottesville. Should take between 1 and 1.5 hours to get there depending on where around Richmond you are.

I had been to Rivanna's website and didnt see any mention on it about 3 gun, what time is the match at on sundays?

I wasn’t real clear in my first post, I made it in a hurry.

In place of the monthly IDPA match in June, there is going to be a 3-gun match. They call it the “Weapons Master” match. I haven’t been to it in the past, but I believe the handgun portion at least will be scored like IDPA. I don’t know what you are used to so this could be similar or nothing like it all.
As far as I know they will start at 9:00 just like they do for IDPA, and start registering at 8:30 or a little before. IDPA isn’t done by squads so if this is done the same way the earlier you get registered the earlier you will get done, especially if this brings in a bigger crowd.
As far as regular 3-gun matches I don’t know of any. A few of the folks that shoot IDPA also shoot IPSC in Fredericksburg (I don’t know the range). They might have what you are looking for. Sorry I’m not any more help than this, I’m new to Richmond and I just started shooting up there a couple of months ago, so I don’t really know how they handle the “special” events. Send one of the IDPA contacts an email, they were very helpful when I started and should know if there are any 3-gun matches around. I just went to one of the links above and it looks like there is one monthly at Black Creek in Mechanicsville.
If you do make it to Rivanna next month I will be the one making a fool out of himself with a Glock 17. I’ll be having a blast too and for me that is what matters.

Shooting ranges in central Virginia

Saw your post regarding 3 gun matches near Richmond. I don't have an answer but rather a question. I'm new to the central Virginia area and am looking for a places to shoot. Do you have any suggestions?

My Shooting Club is 12 miles east of Richmond. Its name is Black Creek. It is in Mechanicsville. Yearly memberships dues are $100, and you need to be a member of NRA as they provide the insurance for the club. There are quite a few Cowboy type events there. There is a Shotgun range that is self fired trap, 100yrd rifle, 50, 25, and a 7-15yard pistol.

have a great day

Thanks. I live outside of Orange, do you know of any ranges between Mechanicsville and here? I know of the Piedmont Sportsman’s Club but they have a limit on the number of members. Right now I’m two years out before being up for membership.
