I wasn’t real clear in my first post, I made it in a hurry.
In place of the monthly IDPA match in June, there is going to be a 3-gun match. They call it the “Weapons Master” match. I haven’t been to it in the past, but I believe the handgun portion at least will be scored like IDPA. I don’t know what you are used to so this could be similar or nothing like it all.
As far as I know they will start at 9:00 just like they do for IDPA, and start registering at 8:30 or a little before. IDPA isn’t done by squads so if this is done the same way the earlier you get registered the earlier you will get done, especially if this brings in a bigger crowd.
As far as regular 3-gun matches I don’t know of any. A few of the folks that shoot IDPA also shoot IPSC in Fredericksburg (I don’t know the range). They might have what you are looking for. Sorry I’m not any more help than this, I’m new to Richmond and I just started shooting up there a couple of months ago, so I don’t really know how they handle the “special” events. Send one of the IDPA contacts an email, they were very helpful when I started and should know if there are any 3-gun matches around. I just went to one of the links above and it looks like there is one monthly at Black Creek in Mechanicsville.
If you do make it to Rivanna next month I will be the one making a fool out of himself with a Glock 17. I’ll be having a blast too and for me that is what matters.
