What would be your choice?
Henry Big Boy Steel Side Gate Blued/Walnut Lever Action Rifle - 357 Magnum - 20in
Rossi R92 Gray Stainless Steel Lever Action Rifle - 357 Magnum - 20in
Rossi R92 Lever Action 20in Polished Black Brazilian Hardwood 357 Magnum

Couldn't get the one I first wanted so basically it is wait for the Rossi or try for a Henry.
About $250 more for one and $150 more for the other.
All leaver action.

Just me but I like the M92 better than the Henry but either way I would go with a shorter barrel in a larger caliber. I have a 16-inch Rossi in 44 Mag and that is a very handy little carbine. If I was going to something with a 20+ inch barrel I would rather step up to a rifle cartridge.

What was the first choice? A Winchester?

I try to like a Rossi. I want to want a Rossi. I just can’t feel like one will do what I want it to. The biggest gripe for me is the buckhorn sights. Straight off the bay, those sights have got to go, so add in the money for that and suddenly your right back in the range of a “better” gun in that it’s a more prestigious brand that commands a higher price tag. The Henry guns I have handled have all had similar issues where I would have to do a little work to make the rifle right for me which puts me in the same monetary ballpark as a Marlin, Winchester, or Browning lever gun. My suggestion is to go out of your way to handle every single variant of what it is that you think you want, and when you find the right one it will tell you that it’s gonna hop in the truck with you as you leave. The guns are all basically the same, just find the right combination of options that will get you all fired up.

From the list I would go with the Rossi R92 with the black oxide finish and the Brazilian Hardwood stock.

I have an older R92 in .45 Colt and it's been nothing but fun to play with at the range.

That is a beautiful rifle. Back when I dealt in/collected acoustic guitars I always bought any Brazilian rosewood guitars in good condition that I could get/afford. I doubled my money or better on every one of them within a few years. I should have kept one. I've never gone down the lever-action gopher hole because I knew I would end up with a safe full of them or more. That one is definitely a keeper.

The stainless Rossi ‘92’s are sharp little rifles. My two Rossi’s are 16” blued and (rather blah) hardwood models in .357/.38 and .45 Colt.

I don’t have any Henry center fire lever guns, but the rimfire offerings I have of theirs in .22 LR and .22 WMR are very smooth, nice shooting rifles.

I say wait for the one you really want, as settling for a second choice is rarely the right move. (As @citizenconn posted above :(.)

Let us know what you decide.

Stay safe.

With all due respect, Rossi are wanna-bes. Marlin, Taylor, Winchester, Henry, Rossi..... Browning and others are great but not in the same styling...

The caveat is that levers are expensive beyond their value (in my opinion) so a cheaper Rossi might be good buy.

Nomes - you might check Gunbroker as well. Several years ago, I found a 20 y.o. Marlin 1894 in .357 to go with my GP-100. It was lighter than the Henry which, at that time did NOT have a side-loading gate but loaded like a .22 with a tubular magazine. Slow and hard to "top off".

Couldn't find a Rossi I went to about 10 different sights none to be found. So win lose or draw.
Ended up getting a Henry Big Boy Brass Side Gate Polished Hardened Brass Lever Action Rifle - 357 Magnum - 20in

I hate to butt in but I am in the same level of choices. I had a Marlin in 44 Mag one of the few that was ok when they were sold to Remington and sold it. I would only consider a Henry if it was a side loader in steel. But the darn Rossi's are in stock in Stainless with wood and stainless / black oxide in wood. Never owned a Rossi but not afraid to tinker a bit.

I am quite impressed with my one off Henry. And I will always support an American company over a foreign one, whenever possible. So I vote Henry.

All the info I have looked at the Henry seems to be top of the line out of the box. I like the looks and the Rossi and the info was good on it but at the time I couldn't find one and for ( I think ) less than $180 difference and a short waite time Henry is ordered. I would realy like to have one of each.

I think I'd go with the Henry like you ended up doing anyways.
