i have seen countless 2 inch revolver ankle holsters and medium to large frame auto holsters but none that are said to work with my 3 inch barrel sp 101. does anyone know a good ankle holster that will fit my gun?

I have an SP101 too and IMHO the SP 3 inch is really too heavy to use in an ankle holster. But that may be just me. I really have good luck using IWB holsters with The SP101.

I have a Ruger LCP in layaway that I'm considering using an ankle holster but it is 9.4 ounces empty compared to the SP101's 25 1/2 ounces. That 25 1/2 ounces plus the weight of the cartridges will be hard to carry ~ walking only ~ no jogging or running, if you do manage to find an ankle holster for it.

the problem is i have to tuck my shirt in for work. i need an ankle holster or some other way of carrying it concealed that doesn't require an untucked shirt, but can still be drawn rapidly.

I guess you could always bungee cord a brick to your other ankle to keep from limping...LOL.

An ankle holster doesn't top the list for rapid draw options. Personally, instead of buying a holster, I'd put the funds toward a lighter gun that can be carried in your front pocket.

You won't like the price, but Kramer Leather would probably make you one. I can tell you that they probably make the most comfortable one on the market, sheep's wool lined, and I have one for the 2" Colt Detective, which is the same frame size as the Ruger. It MIGHT just be worth the money, after you experiment with a few lesser (and less comfortable) brands, and find them lacking.

I bought a Galco Ankle Glove Sunday at the B"Ham gun show and I'm using it with a S&W M638 Airweight. I tried my M60 in it but the Airweight feels a lot lighter on the leg. It works very well and is comfortable all day so far.
I looked on their website and they have one for the SP 101 but with a 2 1/4" barrel. The bottom of the holster is open so I guess you could let 3/4" stick out if you can't find one made for the gun.
I know an ankle holster is not the best way to carry and certainly not the quickest but it does give another option when "concealed" is important.
Good luck.

Yep

Renegade Cozy Partner. I have one for a S&W 3" 36. It is very concealable and comfortable. I do not ankle carry often but when I do this is the ticket.URL="http://www.renegadeholstersdirect.com"]http://www.renegadeholstersdirect.com[/URL]

Contact them by phone 602-482-6777 if you do not see your exact gun listed.

I know alot of people that have bought ankle holsters, but I've never met anyone that continued to use it.

If you walk at all or lead anything resembling an active lifestyle you will quickly grow to hate it, and that's with something appropriate foe ankle carry like a .22 or .25.

A .32 might work if you never anticipate having to chase someone or walk further than 10 or 20 ft at a time, but no way would you want even a .38 airlight much less a SP 101.

Well I can't speak for all those people you know but I wore the ankle glove with the 38 AirWEIGHT 5 days this week for about 11 to 12 hours a day. It was a dream. Allowed me to keep a gun on me at all times. And while I didn't go jogging or play any tennis with it on I did do some walking. Can't remember the last time I tried to chase someone down.
Not trying to start anything, just different strokes for different folks.

I have been carrying a Glock 19 In a Kangaroo Carry holster for some time now. For me after several different holsters it has worked best for my situation. To the OP it might be something to try out even if you are dead set on an ankle holster, it is not relatively expensive and you may find it useful for another firearm. Check it out, couldn't hurt.
