I have a 2-3/4" or 3" capable 12 gauge shotgun (Franchi I-12) - Can I shoot 3" Magnum shot and slugs through it?

I believe that if you can get the shell to properly chamber, then you can fire any 3" shell from your weapon. You probably won't like the recoil, but you can do it.

Thanks for the double check folks. Could it be too agressive for an autoloader?

I am predicting that I will LOVE the recoil.

Check the posted chamber specs!

Gazpacho, I'm not sure if you were referring to ripcurlksm's post specifically or to shotguns in general, but it should be noted that that 3" shells will load in 2 3/4" chambers but will not fire safely. The measurement is taken with the hull open. As it opens, a 3" shell's hull will open into the forcing cone on a 2 3/4" gun, causing a potentially dangerous situation. I can't recall the specific site where I read this, but it may have been mentioned in Remington's Shotgun Basics Course.
